Summary
Herbert and Lotte Strauss, a jew couple who fled Nazi persecution with the help of neighbors and non-Jewish Berliners. They could move to Switzerland and then in 1943 went to the U.S., where Herbert was a professor of history at the City College of New York.Pāris Wurzburg decided to return to their homeland and to review the past, recalling the events that led to the deaths of their loved ones who were not so lucky, or so determined as they were. They note that when the Nazis began to round up the Jewish population, many Jews and other Germans did not understand the extent to which ethnic destruction will be carried out.
